Just a quick post to share something I've been playing around with this week - DIY buzz monitoring on iGoogle.
Just think of a brand you'd like to follow, open an iGoogle tab for it and...
- Add Google news reader and blog search feeds for it, to see what people are writing about it
- Add the TwitterSearch gadget to see what's being tweeted about it
- Add some gadgets from same for Google insights for search to see how often it's being searched for and what the related terms are
- Add a Flickr and Youtube feed for it, so you can see what pics and vids people are uploading about it
The net result is something approximating a buzz monitoring homepage, where you can go to see what's happening on the brands that are nearest and dearest to you - for free.
